I first heard about the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Waterproof Powder when I was watching Sinéad from The Makeup Chair give tips and tricks for long lasting makeup (watch here). As someone with combination skin, I do struggle to keep my makeup in place all day, especially on my nose and around my jaw line. The next time I was in Boots I noticed that it was on offer so decided to give it a go. Unfortunately the shade range is terrible but luckily I managed to find a good match in the shade 10 Ivory – the lightest shade as usual. It looks quite pink toned in the photo below, but it suits my yellow toned skin nicely.
I tried it for the first time the next day and I was amazed at how flawless my skin looked. This powder seems to fill in pores and adds just enough coverage, when worn over the top of a liquid foundation, to leave my skin looking like it has been airbrushed. I like to apply this all over my face, concentrating on my t-zone, with either a Real Techniques Blush Brush or a Real Techniques Duo Fibre Powder Brush depending on how much coverage I want. It does a great job of mattifying my skin without making it look cakey and flat looking. I do still need to touch up or blot once during the day but not as much a I need to with other powders.
I think this is a fantastic powder for the price, it even rivals my MAC Studio Fix Powder. I find myself reaching for this almost every day and I have already made quite a dent in the middle. I highly recommend this powder for people with normal to oily skin. Though I think it might be a bit too matte for people with dry to very dry skin.
Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Waterproof Powder retails for £5.99 and is available here.
