Review | Maybelline Color Tattoo – Creamy Beige

I love using cream eyeshadows as bases for my eye looks. My most used colours tend to be on the neutral side as they work with whatever look I want to create and the majority of the ones I own are from MAC. However, since I discovered the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige my MAC Paintpots have been resigned to the back of the drawer.

Even when I am using a cream shadow I still have to prime and set my eye first because they are that oily – which is very annoying – but the Maybelline Color Tattoos just seem to stick to my lids and they do not budge throughout the day. I do still use an eye primer first though, but this is more out of habit than anything else.

Creamy Beige is exactly as it is described, a creamy medium beige with a matte finish. It works well to prime the eye whilst covering up any discolouration on the lid. Perfect for those of you who have dark eyelids or veins that show through lighter coloured eyeshadows.

When I picked this up I thought it would be a great dupe for my MAC Paintpot in Painterly, however after swatching them next to each other I realised that Creamy Beige is darker and warmer than Painterly. So out came all of my other cream eyeshadows so I could see if it was a cheaper dupe for anything else in my collection.

As you can see from the swatches above it isn’t the same colour as any of my matte cream eyeshadows. This was quite disappointing for me as I find the Maybelline Color Tattoos work so much better than my more expensive MAC Paintpots. It does, though, do exactly the same job, so its not too disappointing that the colour is different. It helps sheerer eyeshadows pop, stay all day and not crease.

If I had to choose between Painterly and Creamy Beige I would pick the Creamy Beige every time for a skin toned cream eyeshadow. The one plus of the MAC Paintpots is that they come in a wide variety of shades. So it really depends what you are looking for.

I also recommend the Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze, it is beautiful and great for a quick eye look.

Maybelline Color Tattoos retail for £4.99 and are available here.
