Wish List #6 | February 2016

Feb 16 wishlist1. Viseart 01 Neutral Matte Eyeshadow Palette

I have heard talk of the quality of Viseart Eyeshadow Palettes floating around the blogging community for a while but they never really sparked my interest. It wasn’t until I found the Cool Mattes palette on sale after Christmas that I really paid attention and did some research. Of course after reading how pigmented and blendable the eyeshadows are I snapped up the Cool Mattes palette and started lusting over the other palettes. The one that I want – no, need – next is the Neutral Matte palette. As I have blue eyes I tend to gravitate towards warm colours as they make my eyes pop. Just look at all of those beautiful warm shades, that middle row is just calling to me. The Viseart Neutral Mattes palette retails for £59.95 and is available here.

2. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Between the Sheets

Towards the end of 2015 I finally took the plunge and purchased some makeup from Charlotte Tilbury, and since that first purchase I have become obsessed with her products. Whilst the eyeshadow palettes are probably my favourite products I have purchased so far I also love the lipsticks. I have the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Penelope Pink and the Matte Revolution lipstick in Walk of Shame and I enjoy both formulas. When I saw she was releasing two new pink shades (one in each formula) in time for Valentines Day I knew they would end up on my wish list. I only chose to include one in this post – as I thought two might be considered excessive – and the one I chose is the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Between the Sheets. From the swatches it looks like a beautiful rosy pink with a hint of peach, the perfect just been kissed colour. The Matte Revolution Lipstick in Between the Sheets retails for £23 and is exclusive to http://www.charlottetilbury.com, you can find it here.

3. NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Tea and Cookies

Following along on the matte pink lipstick line is the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Tea and Cookies. Liquid lipsticks appear to be the “in” lip product at the moment and I have to say I have not tried many liquid lipstick formulas, neither have I tried many products from NYX. Now that the brand is more easily available on http://www.boots.com I have found myself browsing their products more, and this product in particular caught my eye. There is great variety of colours available in this line, from nude to purple to red, but I thought a pink would be a good colour to start with. The NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Tea and Cookies retails for £6.50 and is available here.

4. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I am finally getting down to my last few mascaras after making a conscious effort to use some of them up and so now I am on a hunt for new ones to try. I am not usually a fan of Maybelline mascaras but the wand on this one caught my eye. It looks very similar to the Max Factor Clump Defy (Cover Girl Clump Crusher) which is one of my favourite drugstore mascaras. I am interested to find out if this is an even cheaper alternative. The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara retails for £7.99 and is available here.

5. Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Sculpting Crayon and Setting Gel

I love a Soap & Glory eyebrow product, I believe I have tried all of them so far and they are all great. With the new Archery 2-in-1 Brow Sculpting Crayon and Setting Gel I like the idea that you have your pencil and brow gel all in one product, this would make it great for travel. The only other company I have seen doing something similar to this is Revlon with their Brow Fantasy – this happens to be my current go to travel eyebrow product. I find that the blonde colour in the Soap & Glory brow products is a great match for my brows, its not too ashy and it is not too warm, as I prefer to keep my eyebrows blonde even though my hair is red. I am looking forward to trying this out soon. The Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Sculpting Crayon and Setting Gel retails for £10 and is available here.

6. NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint

I always get excited for a new NARS drop and I was especially excited for this one. I had heard such good reviews of the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser but knew that it would not be for me as I gravitate towards something with more of a satin or matte formula – my oily areas produce enough of their own glow, they don’t need any help – so when I heard they would bringing out a matte tinted moisturiser I was intrigued. The initial review of this are great and I am dying to try it but I really need to use up some of the foundations/tinted moisturisers I already have. I think this might be on my wish list for a while unfortunately. The NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint retails for £30 and is available here.

What is on your current wish list? Have you tried any of the products on mine? Let me know in the comments below.

First Impressions and Swatches | NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

The NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette has finally launched in the UK and I managed to get my hands on it when it was released early on the website a few days ago. I mentioned I wanted this palette in my January Wish List post and when it arrived in the post today I just couldn’t wait to swatch it and do a first impressions post.

L-R Top: Europa, Himalia, Ursa Major, Subra; Bottom: Andromeda, Lysithea, Giove, Sycorax

The palette consists of eight of NARS’ newer dual-intensity eyeshadows (seven permanent and one exclusive to the palette) and a mini #49 wet-dry eyeshadow brush. The eyeshadows are smaller than their individual counter parts, which is to be expected in a palette, but you are still getting a lot of product for your money. This formula has been designed so it can be used dry for sheerer wash of colour and wet for a more intense high impact finish. I have not tried any dual-intensity eyeshadows before so I was excited to see how they swatched wet and dry.

Europa is a pinky peach shade with a subtle frost finish.

Himalia is a medium golden brown with a frost finish.

Ursa Major (exclusive to palette) is a medium dark chocolate brown than leans slightly warm in tone and has a satin finish.

Subra is a burgundy purple with a satin finish.

Andromeda is a creamy white with a subtle shimmer finish.

Lysithea is a silvery pewter with a frost finish.

Giove is a navy blue with a subtle frost finish.

Sycorax is a black with a satin finish.

The first set of swatches below shows the eyeshadows dry and the second set of swatches shows the eyeshadows applied wet using the brush in the palette.

L-R: Andromeda, Europa, Himalia, Lysithea, Ursa Major, Giove, Subra, Sycorax

L-R: Andromeda, Europa, Himalia, Lysithea, Ursa Major, Giove, Subra, Sycorax

I found it difficult to get Andromeda and Europa to show up when applied wet, this may be different when I am applying them to my lid but on my arm they applied even sheerer then when I swatched them dry. I found that Lysithea swatched a lot more intense when wet, as did Giove and Subra. I think the majority of the time I will be using these eyeshadows dry unless I am looking to create a more pigmented and intense look.

Once I have had the chance to try these out properly on my lids I will let you know how they wear, how well they blend etc. But for now I am so pleased I purchased this palette as I think the new formula from NARS is certainly different from any I have tried before and I cannot wait to create some looks with this palette.

NARS NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palettes retails for £45 and is available here.

Wish List #3 | January 2015

Jan 15 Wish List

I thought I would make my first post of 2015 my January Wish List. A couple of the products on the list are new releases and the rest are either products I have been eyeing up for a while or they are products I have seen in some bloggers/vloggers favourite products of 2014 lists.

1. Real Techniques 300 Tapered Brush

Real Techniques have quickly become one of my favourite brush brands. The brushes are excellent quality and retail at an affordable price – they even rival my MAC brushes. So when news hit that they would be releasing a new line of brushes, aimed more at the professional, I was very keen to see what they had developed. I must admit I was a little shocked when I saw the price of the new brushes, but when I watched Sam and Nic’s video that introduced the brushes I understood why they were more expensive. I have already placed an order for the 301 Flat Contour Brush but I also like the look of the 300 Tapered Brush, I think it will be perfect for precise application of blush or highlighter. The Real Techniques 300 Tapered Brush retails for £24 and is available exclusively at Boots in the UK.

2. NARSissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

When Christine from Temptalia posted a sneak peek of the NARSissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette I knew that I wanted it. I didn’t even need to see any swatches to know that it was going to be amazing. Then when her review post went up it confimed that as soon as it was available in the UK I would be buying it. I have not tried any of the Dual Intensity shadows but I have heard great reviews of them and as this palette contains eight shadows in this formula it is a great opportunity to try them out. It has already been released on narscosmetics.com but as yet I haven’t not heard a UK release date. The NARSissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette retails for $79 and is available here.

3. Burberry Pale Barley Sheer Eyeshadow

This eyeshadow is very popular in the blogging community. I have seen in it a few of my favourite beauty bloggers channels (Vivianna Does Makeup, Ghostparties and Amelia Liana) and I think it just looks like a me kind of colour. I love a good neutral shade that I can throw on easily in the morning when I am rushing out the door. It is described as a cool medium dark brown with a golden sheen running through, it reminds me a little of MAC Patina. Although £23 is a pretty hefty price tag for one eyeshadow I can kind of justify it – just about –  if I use it regularly enough. Burberry Pale Barley Sheer Eyeshadow retails for £23 and is available here.

4. Blank Canvas Cosmetics 6 Contour/Highlight Palette #1

I first heard about this contour kit when I was watching a tutorial from Sinéad of The Makeup Chair. Blank Canvas Cosmetics are an online based Irish beauty brand who aim to produce quality products at an affordable price. So far I have purchased one of their brushes and I must say I am very impressed and I am looking forward to trying more products from the company in the future. The Blank Canvas Cosmetics  6 Contour/Highlight Palette #1 retails for £11.64 and is available here.

5. Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads

After I have had any kind of blemish I end up with a red/dark spot that last longer than the actual blemish did. It really bothers me as my skin can be clear in terms of active blemishes but then still look uneven and spotty due to the scars that are left behind. In an attempt to combat this I use quite a few brightening or complexion correcting products to help even out my skin tone. I spotted these when I was browsing Beauty Bay and thought they looked like they might work at combatting this issue. The Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads retail for £24.95 and are available here.

6. Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac – Rose Gold

In my attempt to downsize my handbag I have been searching for one that can fit all my essentials (phone, keys, purse and a few bits of makeup) whilst still having room to hold an umbrella/camera/fiancé’s wallet if needed. In comes the Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC. I have seen this numerous times in other bloggers videos and it is just what I am looking for. What’s more, it even comes in black with rose gold hard wear now! I know it is on the pricier side, but I am willing to pay a bit more for a staple item that I will use time and time again. The Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC – Rose Gold retails for $195 and is available here.

I am on a bit of a spending ban at the moment as I grabbed lots of bargains in the Christmas sales so I think it will be a while before I purchase any of these items, except possibly the NARS palette as it just so beautiful and I know it is going to sell out fast.

Are there any new releases you are looking forward to? Or are there any products you have heard bloggers/vloggers raving about that you want to get your hands on? Let me know in the comments below.

Wishing you all a brilliant 2015,

First Impressions and Swatches | NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret

When I saw Alix from I Covet Thee talk about the NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret in her Autumn Beauty Haul I knew I had to get my hands on it as NARS limited edition products usually sell out super quick. I was surprised to find it was still available on the Space NK website (and still is) and I had a £5 off voucher to use so I added it to my basket and waited patiently – or not – for it to arrive. Space NK are also offering complimentary gift wrapping at the moment so I decided to take up that offer making my naughty purchase feel even more special. Cue lots of pictures of the gorgeous packaging.

Not only is the packaging beautiful but the lip pencils inside are too. There are five mini lip pencils, two velvet matte and three satin. I think there is a great selection of colours in this set from a glossy nude to a gorgeous matte red.

L-R: Descanso, Torres Del Paine, Yu, Iberico, Cruella

Nars Lip Coffet

Top: Descanso, Torres Del Paine; Middle: Yu, Iberico; Bottom: Cruella

Descanso is a pinky nude with a satin finish

Torres Del Paine is a peachy nude with a satin finish

Yu is a bright fuchsia pink with a satin finish

Iberico is a bright orange red with a matte finish

Cruella is a deep blue based red with a matte finish

So far I have worn Cruella and Descanso and I am really impressed with the formula. Both the matte and satin lip pencils are long lasting yet comfortable to wear. I think this would make an excellent Christmas present as I think you get a lot for your money and a great selection of colours.

NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret retails for £32 and is available here.

Wish List #2 | December 2014 Christmas Wish List

December Wish List

I have combined this month wish list with my Christmas Wish List as I thought that the products I am lusting after this month are the things I have put on my Christmas List.

1. NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette

Every time I browse the Space NK website I keep coming back to the NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette. The palette contains Laguna Bronzing Powder, Miss Liberty Highlighting Blush, Deep Throat Blush, Sex Fantasy Blush and Final Cut Blush. I already have two Laguna Bronzers in other palettes but I just want this palette. I don’t know why as I have lots of blushes already, I think it is the fact it’s limited edition so I know if I don’t get it now then I won’t be able to. The blush colours look beautiful and the highlighter looks lovely too. The NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette retails for £45 and is available here.

2. Lush Rudolph

When I went to the Lush Christmas Product Launch I saw this gift set and I knew it was the one I wanted this year before I had even seen what was inside – I was sold on the knot wrap alone. Inside is the Snowman Jelly, Yog Nog Soap, Dashing Santa Bath Bomb and Golden Wonder Bath Bomb. I have tried the two bath bombs before but not the soap or the shower jelly so I hoping Santa brings me this so I can try them. Lush Rudolph retails for £19.50 and is available here.

3. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater

I have heard a lot about this brand from American beauty bloggers and decided to browse their products to see what I wanted to try first. I have been really enjoying hydrating facial sprays recently so this product really appealed to me. It claims to lightly refresh, hydrate and relive dry and tight skin. I love the smell of rose products so this sounds perfect. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater retails for £11.95 and is available here.

4. Sarah Chapman Morning Facial

Sarah Chapman is a much talked about brand at the moment so I was excited when I received some of her products in various Space NK gift with purchases. So far I have really enjoyed all of the products I have tried and I now have my eyes on her Morning Facial. Claiming to hydrate, boost radiance and and plump fine lines this product sounds like it would be perfect for my morning skin care routine. I know it is pricey but I believe in spending a bit more money on a serum and saving on other steps of my routine. Sarah Chapman Morning Facial retails for £45 and is available here.

5. Laura Mercier La Petite Pâtisserie Soufflè Body Crème Collection

Last Christmas I got a couple of sets of Laura Mercier body products in the sales and I have fallen in love with them. This set just looks beautiful, you get six body crèmes in the following scents, Ambre Vanillé, Almond Coconut Milk, Crème Brûlée, Fresh Fig, Crème de Pistache and Tarte au Citron – don’t they all just sound delicious. I already love the scent of the first three so I am looking forward to trying the other scents if I find this under my tree this year.

6. Forever Puff Ovo

Whilst read and watching various beauty bloggers I have learnt that it is better to press your setting powder into your skin in order to keep your foundation locked in place. I heard about the Forever Puff from Glam Life Guru aka Tati and thought that it looked like a good quality powder puff, not like the cheap ones you can get from drug stores. Each one has a foam on the inside and a velour outside and can be cleaned in the washing machine so they are good as new again. They come in a variety of different sizes from compact size to body size. Forever Puff Ovo retails for $12.99 and is available here.

Obviously Christmas is not just about receiving and giving presents, I love spending time with my family and friends and I am wishing for them all to be happy and healthy, but this is a beauty blog after all!

What are you wishing for most this Christmas. Let me know in the comments below.
