Top 5 | Red Lipsticks

DSC_0020

I thought I would put together a quick post talking about my favourite red lipsticks. When I was choosing which lipsticks would make it into my top 5 I made sure I chose permanent products just in case any of you like the look of any of these and want to purchase it for yourself. I have not put them in order of favourite to least favourite – I couldn’t choose which was my favourite either – I decided to put them in order of sheer to opaque.

R-L: Revlon Candy Apple, YSL Luscious Cherry, MAC Lady Danger, MAC Brave Red, NARS Cruella

Revlon Candy Apple Colour Burst Lip Butter is a gorgeous glossy red that reminds me of Christmas every time I wear it. It really brightens up my face and as it is a balm it fades nicely and you don’t get left with a red ring around the outside of your lips.

YSL Luscious Cherry Volute Sheer Candy is more of a pinky red that also has a glossy finish. As this is quite a sheer lipstick it can be slicked on without looking in a mirror, so it is great if you are going to be out and about and need something easy to reapply.

MAC Lady Danger is a cult favourite with a lot of makeup lovers and Celebrities. It is a super pigmented bright orange red with a matte finish. It is quite a creamy matte so is easy to apply and it looks great one for when you want to look like you have made an effort with your makeup but don’t want to spent too long doing it.

MAC Brave Red is a bright yellow red and as it is a creamsheen formula it applies smoothly and feels moisturising on the lips. This is quite a recent purchase for me but it has quickly become a favourite.

NARS Cruella is a very recent addition to my collection but I am already in love with it. It is a deep burgandy red with a matte finish. It is a highly pigmented and because it is in pencil form it is really easy to line the lips before hand and them fill them in.

There are definitely other reds in my collection that could have made it in to this post but I wanted to choose colours that make me feel really confident when I wear them and all of these definitely do that. If you are worried about wearing a red lipstick I would go for either of the first two. They are both on the sheerer side and do not scream “I am wearing red lipstick” when you wear them but still add that pop of colour that is perfect for this time of year.

Top 5 | Beauty Websites

Makeup CollectionI thought I would tell you about my favourite places I buy my beauty products online. I tend to purchase most products online as it is more convenient and it is easier to find a good offer or deal. Some of the brands I mention for each website may be available on the others but I am putting them with the website I purchase them from most often.

FeelUnique.com

I have been purchasing products from Feel Unique for years. It was probably the first dedicated beauty website I started using. They have such a wide variety of brands, from drugstore to high end. The customer service has always been fantastic and the delivery times are great.

Some of my favourite brands available from Feel Unique are:

  • Urban Decay
  • Tanya Burr
  • Figs & Rouge
  • First Aid Beauty
  • Murad
  • Yes To

Escentual.com

I stumbled across this website when I was searching for cheaper Clarins products. They usually have good deals on many brands, so this is a great website to check when you are looking for a bargain.

Some of my favourite brands from Escentual are:

  • Clarins
  • Elizabeth Arden
  • Roger & Gallet

AllBeauty.com

Formally known as Cheap Smells, this website is fantastic for finding your favourite products at a discount price. They sell cosmetics, perfume, hair care, skin care, body and bath.

Some of my favourite brands from All Beauty are:

  • OPI
  • Max Factor
  • Elizabeth Arden
  • TIGI Catwalk
  • Macadamia Oil

SpaceNK.co.uk

Now I know technically this isn’t an online beauty store, but my nearest Space NK is about45 minutes away and it is quite small. So I have to get my fix online. I brows the Space NK website a few times a week as I love lusting after all of the expensive products and occasionally placing a very naughty order. The one thing that bothers me about Space NK is that postage is £5 unless you spend over £50, sometimes spending £50 isn’t a problem, but if I just want one thing then I hate having to pay £5 postage. It just seems a bit much when most companies charge £3.95 for standard shipping – rant over. However, the customer service from Space NK is fantastic.

Some of my favourite brands from Space NK are:

  • Hourglass
  • Becca
  • NARS
  • Glam Glow
  • Laura Mercier
  • Kiehls
  • REN
  • This Works
  • Nuxe

CultBeauty.co.uk

I first discovered Cult Beauty after searching for the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and since then I have placed a couple of orders from their site. I like that they have a select few products on their website, it makes it much easier to browse, and I find I don’t get sucked in to purchasing other products as easily.

Some of my favourite brands from Cult Beauty are:

  • Therapie
  • Jouer
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills
  • Aesop

I thought I would include this next one as an honourable mention as it is an American website so you have to pay import duties and tax etc, but there service is fantastic and it is great to be able to get hold of American/Canadian brands.

Sephora.com

I was super excited when Sephora started shipping to the UK – I am crossing my fingers they open a store here. I was desperate to get my hands on some Tart blushes at first and I have not been disappointed by the quality. On the Sephora website you can see the price you are going to pay in pounds once the items have been added to your bag and once you check out you can also see how much tax and duties you are paying – no nasty surprises when it arrives with Royal Mail and they charge you. There are some restrictions on what you can purchase, for example no nail varnish or perfume, and you a restricted on what brands you can purchase (ones that are readily available in the UK). However, the shipping is excellent. I have had parcels arrive in under a week and a parcel has never taken more that 2 weeks to arrive. I think that is amazing considering it has to cross the Atlantic! It even beats some UK companies.

Some of my favourite brand from Sephora are:

  • Bite Beauty
  • Marc Jacobs
  • Tarte
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills
  • Too Faced
  • Make Up Forever
